Partnering with Sambazon, industry pioneer and market leader in the organic açaí category, Mistress is proud to announce #PurpleForThePlanet—a unique experiential and social-good initiative created with the goal of saving 30 endangered species in 30 days, one purple head at a time.
The campaign challenges people to color their hair purple and share a photo on social media; for every person who participates, Sambazon will buy five acres of rainforest through The Rainforest Trust’s “Save-An-Acre” Program. As scientists estimate that one species is lost to extinction for every 584 acres of rainforest that are cut down, a species is saved when those acres are protected.
Beyond the social media campaign, #PurpleForThePlanet is also a larger movement. Not only have celebrity influencers like Madelaine Petsch and Vanessa Morgan from “Riverdale” and Jonathan Van Ness from “Queer Eye” lent their voices (and hair) to the cause, Sambazon is calling on the local community to attend an activation on Venice’s famed Abbot Kinney Boulevard this Saturday, May 12th between 12:00 and 5:00 pm, outside The Brig. The event will feature hairstylists, hair coloring stations, Instagrammable backdrops, and photo booths, all to help guests go purple for the planet. Free Sambazon Açaí bowls and swag bags will also be given away, so be sure to drop by.
#PurpleForThePlanet is running from Earth Day, April 22nd, through World Biodiversity Day, on May 22nd. To learn more or participate, visit sambazon.com/purplefortheplanet.
